DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are injections that plump up wrinkles and smooth lines on your face. HA (Hyaluronic acid) fillers are soft and gel-like substances injected under the skin. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – is a natural substance found in your skin. It keeps skin plump and hydrated. Injecting dermal fillers into the face can improve the appearance of facial lines and volume loss caused by age or certain medical conditions.
You may choose to get dermal fillers to:
- Add volume to sagging skin.
- Make your facial features more symmetrical.
- Plump up lips and cheeks.
- Smooth wrinkles and creases in your face.
Results are seen right away and last months to years depending on the type of filler and the location.
Before you get dermal fillers, you’ll have a consultation with your cosmetologist.
They’ll examine your face and ask about your goals and what areas you’d like to enhance.
They may also take pictures of your face. Your cosmetologist will recommend a specific type of filler and review possible side effects and recovery time. Also, they will ask you about your medical history.
If you are prone to bruising easily, best not to have cosmetic dermal fillers treatments within 10 days of an important social event. If you get a bruise, it can last 7 to 14 days. Routinely, most patients are usually fine and only experience slight swelling for 24 hours.
Avoid long haul flights for 5-7 days post treatment as the altitude of the flight and cabin pressure might affect the settling of the filler and may increase bruising.
