Depending on the area that requires SHR, we recommend that our clients have 6-12 treatments at four week intervals. Hair reduction treatments at four weekly intervals will ensure that we are able to target the hair at the right time during the natural re-growth cycle. Towards the end of the process, the interval between hair reduction treatments may be extended to 6-8 weeks as the re-growth cycles slow.
A treatment of body areas, which are tattooed, generally cannot be carried out.
Also, with endogenous pigments, e.g. Birthmarks (nevus), treatment should be avoided.
An important point, which you definitely have to consider before a treatment is, that hair should not be plucked or depilated in any other way. This also applies to a treatment with wax, because with such kind of treatments the hair is plucked with its hair root. If this is the case, the important “bridge” between the hair and stem cells is destroyed and the light beams cannot reach those anymore. Only after 4 weeks, the earliest, a treatment of the hair can take place, after it has regenerated itself and is now in its active growth phase.
Before any Treatment the following is important:
- The area to be treated is to be clean and free of any oils, lotions etc.
- Shaving is required one day before treatment
- Avoid exposure to the sun for around 2 weeks before treatment and 2 weeks after
- Avoid any creams, tanning etc several days before treatment
Treatment times vary depending upon the area but as a guide a facial treatment might take 20 minutes and both legs around 40 minutes. There’s no recovery time needed so once complete you’re good to go.
